About Us

Running with K9s Pet Services offers services for cats and dogs, which include dog training/behavior modification, dog walking, trail adventures, and drop in visits. We offer both regular scheduled weekday visits while you work, and occasional visits while you are out of town and have to leave your pets behind.

The safety and well-being of your pets and home is our top priority. All staff members have gone thorough background checks, received training in pet CPR, and all are able to administer medications and subcutaneous fluids to both cats and dogs. We always keep your pet's specific needs in mind when providing care for them. We consider every pet in our care family and we treat them as such.

Our Story

In loving memory of Sherman, the fluffy Pitbull

Fluffy Pitbull

The beginnings of Running with K9s Pet Services took root in late 2021, when Anneli, became heavily involved with volunteering as a dog walker at a local animal shelter, quickly moving on to helping out with training and behavior modification and eventually taking on the Training Team Lead position at a rescue in Howard County, MD. Working and volunteering at animal shelters/rescues has given Anneli the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of different behavior challenges among dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds.  Anneli derived a lot of joy from working with dogs, which sparked the idea in her of starting her own pet services business. In 2022, Anneli came up with the name and logo for her dream business. Why Running with K9s? Anneli has two Huskies, whom she frequently takes for long trail runs in Patapsco State Park, and she wanted to incorporate that part of her life both in the name of the business and as a part of the services she offers.

For a while, it was just an idea and a dream; however, when Anneli's beloved rescue dog, Sherman, passed away due to bacterial encephalitis at only a year old, Anneli decided to make her dream of starting a pet services business a reality. After her tragic loss, Anneli knew that it was time for her to do what she loved the most - care for animals - full time. Anneli had gotten to know A'ndrea and Will at a local dog daycare where the two had been caring for Sherman and shared the grief of loss of her beautiful boy with her. She approached them with the idea of a partnership for the business and they were excited to join the venture, and they will jump in and help out with pet sitting as contractors as time allows.

Anneli Freeman, FDM, Fear Free Certified

Owner, Dog trainer, Dog walker, Pet sitter

I am a NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters), Certified Family Dog Mediator (FDM), and Fear Free Certified Pet Professional. I have been the guardian for many pets of my own, ranging from cats and dogs to hamsters, turtles, and parakeets since childhood. I have experience caring for all ages of felines and canines from young puppies and kittens, to senior cats and dogs with medical issues. I currently have three large dogs and two cats of my own, and I foster dogs for several local rescue groups.

I had been walking dogs professionally on weekends for nearly a year through Rover before I started my own business in 2023. I started it as purely pet sitting/dog walking business, but have added training/behavior modification to my list of services in the past year.
I have acquired a wealth of knowledge about canine behavior and fear free/rewards-based training methods by reading books, participating in online training courses, assisting certified Dog Behavior Consultants with group classes and private sessions. I am also the Training Team Lead for a local dog rescue's behavioral training team working alongside with Certified Behavior Consultants with shelter dogs and providing training and behavior modification help for dogs in foster care and newly adopted dogs.

A'ndrea Burdette

Dog walker and Pet sitter

I have grown up with having dogs in the family my whole life and I have always been the one to care for their needs, including going on routine walks and accompanying them to medical visits. I have experience of, and feel comfortable with handling dogs of all sizes. I enjoy spending time with both feline and canine furry friends, and there isn’t a dog breed I wouldn’t work with - I love them all.

I started my pet sitting career helping out neighbors and friends while they were either out of town or working during the day, and have now turned that into my career.

I’ll gladly give your furry friend some love and will respect any requests the owner has, and instructions they may leave, including sending updated photos to assure the owner that their furry pal is safe and that they are in the right hands with thorough care and lots of love.

William Hurd

Dog walker and Pet sitter

I have always had an immense love for working with animals, especially dogs and cats. I grew up around many different kinds of dogs. My family always had dogs from small to large breeds. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with dogs, whether it be taking them out for a walk or playing with them in their home. I love working with dogs who need a little extra help polishing up their leash walking skills and I am more than happy to assist with that whenever necessary.

In addition to having had dogs of my own, I also have experience of fostering rescue dogs with my family.
